FAQ: Kolej MARA Seremban

Views:

*Update: this entry was relevant up till my time at KMS.

1. Pergi kelas pakai apa? Pergi keluar dari bilik pulak? Nak pergi makan macam mana?
LELAKI
Isnin- Khamis: Kemeja lengan panjang atau pendek (apa-apa material atau fabrik haha tapi plain lah seeloknya), tie (optional), seluar slacks (wajib), kasut hitam kulit/ PVC.

Jumaat: Baju melayu lengkap bersampin bersongkok, tuck in.

PEREMPUAN
Isnin- Jumaat: Baju kurung, KURUNG sahaja. Tiada kebaya tiada sari tiada kebarung, tiada batik lepas. Ya anak-anak, baju kurung menutup aurat (tak berbentuk? tak melekat di badan?). Kasut hitam/ gelap kulit/ PVC.

Setiap hari rabu, korang akan pakai t-shirt batch. But for awal awal ni, belum ada lagi baju. Bila dah dapat nanti baru mula. Now ikut rules atas tu.

TUDUNG:
Plain seeloknya, tak nipis, menutup dada (eh macam konsep biasa menutup ya). Ewah macam promoter tudung. Kbai saya tak jual tudung.

KE DEWAN SELERA (DS)
Menutup aurat, gaya apa pun lantak koranglah, tak mandi pun takpe kalau weekend tu haha. Perempuan pulak kalau pakai t-shirt, pakai yang labuh sikit (ha g beli banyak banyak), taklah besar gedabak, asal ikut saiz memasing, tutup ehem ehem.

OUTING
Terpulang kepada taste masing masing, aurat dijaga :)

2. Pakai internet apa?
Sesetengah pakai wifi, mostly engineering students. Sebab most of them tak perlu pakai internet untuk belajar sangat. Other students, broadband is more preferable. Sebab boleh bawak pergi mana-mana untuk research. For IB & TESL, I suggest broadband. Akak pakai MAXIS and line dia okay laju je (unless kuota habis haha). Ini perlu ya internet kat bilik sebab IB & TESL banyak perlukan research, tanpa internet, musnahlah impian hik hik. Btw kat Blok Akademik (BA) ada wifi. Bilik tiada. And dengar kata U-mobile sangat laju di Seremban.

3. Alat tulis?
Macam sekolah dulu, basic sahaja. Ohhhhh tak perlulah ya nak beli pensel warna LUNA ke apa semua. Highlighter beli banyak2, cukup 7 koleksi warna pelangi lagi baik haha.

4. Elaun masuk macam mana?
Elaun masuk macam magik. Ikut akaun bank masing-masing. RM 100 setiap bulan. Mungkin awal-awal ni akan diberi melalui cek sebab akaun bank belum establish.

5. Majoriti pelajar kos apa?
Tak tentu, akak kurang pasti pasal IB, tapi kalau A-level batch akak, 6 kelas engineering, 1 kelas TESL (kurang dari 20 biasanya), 1 kelas Accounting. Biasanya sekelas 20 orang.

6. Susah tak nak fly?
Again, sorry for students IB sebab akak tak tahu sangat pasal IB. Pasal A-levels, peratusan fly Accounting paling tinggi. Engineers pulak ramai yang akan score A in many subjects, tapi ada jugak yang susah nak catch up. But again, berduyun-duyun berbondong-bondong manusia engineers yang 15 and fly :) TESL, oh tak perlu diulas, dah diterangkan di sini.

7. Bila boleh keluar atau balik?
WEEKDAYS: Keluar selepas 5 petang, balik by 7pm.
WEEKENDS: Keluar 9am, balik by 7pm.
BALIK: Jumaat lepas solat Jumaat (lelaki), Jumaat lepas kelas fardu ain (perempuan, about 2pm dah boleh bergerak). Kembali semula ke kolej by 7pm Ahad. Setiap minggu boleh balik kalau takde event kolej.

8. Macam mana budaya belajar kat sana?
Budi bahasa budaya kita. Bakal dibentuk kemudian. Jadual atau susunan aktiviti harian? Di sini.

9. Calculator pun ade spesis tertentu ke?
IB: GDC (sila google rajah anda hew hew)
A-LEVEL: Casio 570-MS (SPM gitewww)

10. Subjek ada berapa?
IB tak pasti, A-level yang diambil points nya 3+1.

ENGINEERING:
Maths (pure Maths 1, Pure Maths 3, Statistics 1, Mechanics)
Physics
Chemistry
*General Paper

ACCOUNTING:
Maths (pure Maths 1, Pure Maths 3, Statistics 1, Statistics 2)
Business Studies
Account
*Econs

TESL:
Maths (pure Maths 1, Pure Maths 3, Statistics 1, Statistics 2)
Sociology *muntah*
Literature *muntah darah*
General Paper.

*general paper ni subjek yang akan assist to top up kalau points kita tak cukup nak fly.

Selain tu, semua IB & A-Levels akan belajar Islamic Studies eceh nama dia english tapi belajar dia BM lah.

Jap, ada lagi ke tertinggal? Rasanya tak. Kalau ada, boleh bagitahu :)

By the way, nama kelas kat sini camni tau.

11. 7

Batch. Class

Akak kelas 11.7, maknanya akak A-level batch 11, kelas 7.

Kalau dalam IB batch akak,
Kelas dia camni:
MD 62 (e.g), bermakna dia kelas Medic/ Dentistry batch 6 kelas 2.

Korang adalah A-level batch 13, IB batch 8 :) Semoga berjaya :D

FAQ about A-level TESL Kolej MARA Seremban (KMS)

Views:

I'm making this for my beloved unseen suju super junior. I want you all to be mentally prepared before you step into this college :) No this isn't a death note or whatever harmful, it's just a sweet reminder and advice. Here we go!

1. How many subjects do we take?
Basically 3 core subjects, with 1 elective.
Semester 1 & Semester 2: Sociology, Literature & Mathematics (Pure Maths 1 & Statistics 1)
Semester 3 & Semester 4: Sociology, Literature & Mathematics (Pure Maths 3 & Statistics 2)

In between the terms, you'll also have General Paper which depends on the college. Like my batch, we sit for GP exam in the final semester A2, but our juniors- in their AS.

2. What are AS and A2?
Maybe you could do some research on www.cie.org.uk. But basically, Advanced Subsidiary is the first-year examination and A2 is the final exam. The total points for each exam is 15. MARA's requirement is overall 13 points.

3. How is the point calculated?
A- 5 (80- 100)
B- 4 (70- 79)
C- 3 (60- 69)
D- 2 (50- 59)
E- 1 (40 -49)
U- 0
* These bands and grouping of marks are not constant, it may change in the real exam like in SPM, the threshold and everything. BUT, CIE is a board who is extremely concerned about their prestige, don't expect it to be VERY low. Even if it changes, will be involving like 2-3 marks only. In each exam, you have to score at least 13 points (A, B, B or A, A, C) minimum. Or else you'll need to repeat.

4. What is meant by 'repeat'?
When you don't score A in AS, you'll have to re-sit for the exam. AS is in May/ June and the repeat is in Oct/ Nov. For all courses, you get no A, you repeat. For TESL, if you get B for Sociology & Literature, you're safe. It's already too good to get a B. Be reminded, 'repeat' is not an easy thing. If in the repeat exam you still fail to get an A (Maths) or B (Sociology & Literature), you'll repeat again in May/ June in the following year together with A2 exam. Again, to repeat is to die.

5. Is it hard to get A?
Mathematics- Yes
Sociology- Hm yes.
Literature- Super yes!

Okay, if the toughness is to be scaled from 1 to 10 with 1 is the easiest, I scale them this way:
Mathematics: 4
Sociology: 7
Literature: 11 -___-
They are all easy to learn, fun to know but hard to score.

6. Are the teachers 'okay'?
Yes, they are. All of the teachers are female. Lemme introduce you to them.
Mathematics: changes every batch. Mine is Puan Suhaila.
Sociology: Ms Muna Ahmad
Literature: Ms Nina Abu Bakar
General Paper: Ms Julia Abd Rahman

7. Is TESL the hardest course?
It depends on the way you interpret 'hard'. For me, and many others, we see TESL as the toughest one in KMS. You don't get enough sleep, you sleep at 2-3am? That's normal!

8. Do we have chances to fly?
Yes. And no. You just have to be good in exams. But, bear in mind. Struggle along the way, not at the end of the journey. Chances of flying, everyone in A-level will have this worry but, you see every year many are flying. You can be one of them.

9. Any advice?
Just be strong. I really mean it. To stay in TESL is to live in pain. Nah, sounds exaggerating huh? Ha ha. Alright, be strong, be united, be prepared. TESL is not an easy thing when you do it in KMS. Time management and emotional management must take place.

Okay, I'm done. I can't really make up questions ha ha. I'll come up with new Q & A if anyone asks me later. Till then, good bye.
