Umrah Part 2: Departure

Our baggage was ready the night before departure.

My day started early that 28th. I woke up at about 5am to finalise and check everything. I had mixed feelings. If I were to describe it, it's 90% anxious- 5% excited, 5% clueless. I was anxious because I knew I was a bad servant, I was worried about being punished, I was afraid of entering a new phase. Because I knew, once I've been to Haramain, I should not be the same person again when I return. Hence, I was afraid. I kept thinking 'what if I didn't change to a better person after umrah?', 'how would I live my new life after my umrah, how would people see me?', 'what if I was not ready to change?'. Of course, before leaving, we have to set our target. People should take umrah and hajj seriously because these two things don't come easy. Well, for rich people, they may. In fact, umrah and hajj are the rituals, the important ones, that need Muslims to devote a lot of time and money in order to perform. Apart from that, we must prepare our inner self, our soul for the journey to meet Rasulullah SAW and be closer to Allah. Make sure we know what we want. Do you want to come back home just in the same way when you leave? No. We must change.

Solat taubat really helps. Whenever you feel dirty, tainted, sinful, do this 2 rakaat solat. We may not be able to see it physically, but trust me, your inner self would experience a difference. I said so because when those negative vibes started to overwhelm me, I used this method. Pray with full submission to Allah. Be positive and do know that He's the most gracious, the most merciful. He listens and sees.

So, the umrah journey began with solat sunat musafir at home. We then left home for the surau. We had our subuh there and had people sending us.

We took a mini bus (rented) from Johor Bahru to Kuala Lumpur International Airport because our relatives were happy to send us to the airport. We were wearing the most comfortable clothes because the journey was a long haul one. We did not wear the ihram attire because our flight was Jeddah bound. Different packages from different travel agents have different itinerary. Here's the sample of Andalusia Travel and Tours umrah itinerary for our package.

Some people choose Umrah Biasa (visit Makkah and Madinah) while some others go with Umrah Ziarah or Umrah Transit (from KL to other cities/ countries first e.g Spain, Morocco, Oman, Dubai, Jordan, Istanbul, Cairo etc and then to Saudi). Well, you can browse for Andalusia's package on their website. Only people who enter Makkah first would need to wear ihram attire before flying or get changed onboard.

I'm not sure if I have mentioned before but this was a 12-day journey:
Day 1: Depart to Saudi Arabia (28/1)
Days 2-5: Madinah and depart to Makkah (29/1 - 1/2)
Day 6-11: Makkah and depart to Kuala Lumpur (2/2 - 7/2)
Day 12: Arrive in Kuala Lumpur (8/2)

***
We arrived at KLIA before noon and met our mutawif and Andalusia's representative. After a small briefing by the mutawif, we had some meal and waited for Zuhur. Immediately after prayer, we rushed to the departure gate. We almost missed the flight too! No, I'm not gonna tell why 'cause it's so dramatic! Never mind because we made it at last.

Alright till next time :) I'd write about my arrival to Jeddah and journey to Madinah.
